The Namami Gange Seva Foundation is deeply committed to restoring the sacred purity of the Ganga River through its extensive cleaning campaigns. Volunteers, local communities, and environmental experts come together regularly to clean the riverbanks and remove waste, focusing on reducing pollution and ensuring the health of the ecosystem. This initiative not only addresses visible litter but also aims to tackle the root causes of pollution, encouraging people to adopt sustainable practices and spread awareness about the river’s spiritual and ecological significance.
We have cleaned up more than 5 tonnes of waste along the Ganga riverbanks. We also have an ongoing initiative to clean the ghats for more than 2 years. We hope that you can contribute to the campaign or volunteer for the cleanup drive.
We are dedicated to restoring and preserving the ancient temples situated along the banks of the Ganga, especially in Kashi (Varanasi). This campaign involves structural renovations to protect these heritage sites from decay, as well as efforts to revitalize their cultural significance. The initiative brings in artisans and conservationists who work meticulously on the intricate carvings, murals, and architecture, ensuring that the temples remain a thriving part of India’s spiritual legacy. By contributing to this campaign, individuals help safeguard important historical and spiritual landmarks for future generations.
The Namami Gange Seva Foundation‘s nature conservation efforts extend beyond the river itself. This campaign focuses on reforestation along the Ganga’s banks, planting native trees to strengthen the ecosystem and prevent soil erosion. The foundation conducts awareness drives to educate the community on the importance of preserving local biodiversity. They also work towards protecting wetlands and creating green corridors, which play a crucial role in maintaining the natural habitat of numerous species and ensuring a sustainable environment for future generations.
The Namami Gange Seva Foundation conducts Ganga Aarti ceremonies to celebrate the divine and cultural significance of the Ganga River. This campaign aims to foster a deeper connection between the community and the river, highlighting the sacred importance of the Ganga. Through these ceremonies, we also spreads awareness about the need to protect and conserve the Ganga, blending spirituality with environmental stewardship.
We also run Veda Vidyalayas to preserve and promote India’s ancient spiritual knowledge. These institutions provide traditional Vedic education, focusing on the study of scriptures, rituals, and philosophy. Volunteers distribute cooked food packets and essential supplies, particularly during festivals, special occasions, and times of crisis. By addressing the immediate food needs of marginalized groups, We aim to alleviate hunger and foster a sense of community welfare, ensuring that no one is left behind.
